ABOUT THE PAW PROJECT PSA VIDEO COMPETITION

THE PAW PROJECT PSA VIDEO COMPETITION. The Paw Project will air 30-second public service announcements (PSA) about the harmful effects of domestic cat declawing. The Paw Project is sponsoring a competition for these PSAs. The Paw Project invites film makers and video artists who care about animal welfare to produce a creative and compelling video PSA that persuasively communicates reasons why people should not declaw their cats.

The Paw Project's panel of judges will choose one "Best of Show" winner who will be awarded the prize of one Apple MacBook Pro, 15-inch, 2.16Ghz and one copy of Final Cut Studio 5.1. One Honorable Mention prize recipient will be awarded one iPod, 30GB, black. Competition ends Sunday, July 15, 2007!

THE PAW PROJECT's MISSION. The Paw Project's mission is to educate the public about the painful and crippling effects of cat declawing, to promote animal welfare through the abolition of the practice of declaw surgery, and to rehabilitate big cats that have been declawed.

THE PAW PROJECT's ACCOMPLISHMENTS. The Paw Project initiated efforts leading to the ban on declawing cats in West Hollywood, CA, the first law of its kind in North America. The Paw Project was also the sponsor of California's AB 1857, introduced by Assemblyman Paul Koretz (D-42nd District). In September 2004, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed AB 1857, enacting the first state law in the US banning declawing but only for wild and exotic cats. The Paw Project is commited to continuing active support of legislation to ban declawing of all animals and using every available medium to educate the public about the harmful effects of declawing.

The Paw Project is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation in the State of California.

The Paw Project is supported by private donations and the sale of LaLa Cards, animal-themed greeting cards. The tax-deductible contributions are used for costs of surgical facilities and supplies, educational programs, and anti-declawing efforts.
