A special thank-you to Cosmic Pet Products
We are pleased to acknowlege the generous contribution made recently to The Paw Project by our new booster, Cosmic Pet Products, which manufactures cat related products
and ships them worldwide. www.cosmicpet.com.
We remember and miss Buddy Hackett.
The Paw Project mourns the loss of a humanitarian of great heart and spirit, a friend to us and a generous benefactor to animals. He made an enormous difference in his
life, and through The Buddy Hackett Singita Animal Sanctuary, his work in relieving the suffering of rescued animals will continue. We extend our sympathy and support
to the Hackett Family.
The City Council of West Hollywood, California has been a consistently strong advocate of Animal Welfare issues and has
supported The Paw Project since it voted unanimously on April 7, 2003 to ban cat declawing in that city. Since April 2003 the tireless efforts of the City Council, and most
especially the Honorable Paul Koretz (D-42nd District Assembly), have resulted in greater public awareness about the cruel practice of feline
declaw surgery and the passage of AB 1857, the Koretz Bill Banning Declawing
of Exotic Cats. On January 1, 2005 the Koretz bill will be the first State law in the US to enact legislation prohibiting declawing of wild cats. The Paw Project is
indebted to Assemblymember Paul Koretz, West Hollywood Councilmember John Duran and his Deputy, Hernan Molina whose persistent and determined efforts made legislative
success possible in local and state government
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed AB 1857 on September 29, 2004, making it the first State law in the US to ban declawing of exotic cats. The Paw Project,
which sponsored the bill, thanks Governor Schwarzenegger for signing into law this important legal protection against animal cruelty.
We wish to thank our individual supporters—animal lovers and animal welfare advocates—who care deeply about the humane and ethical treatment of felines,
whether they are domestic or wild cats. We are grateful to the many supporters who have contributed to the efforts of The Paw Project, including:
